Thinking of You Vintage

Sadly, I feel like I should make a stash of sympathy cards...it seems I've had a need for a lot more of these types of cards lately.  This DSP has been sititng on my desk for awhile, and I just had to use it.  I aged the paper first by crumpling it up and then I used the distressing kit to add a bit of color and to rough up the edges.  I used the ink on the ribbon as well.  Order your supplies here.

Happy Birthday!

Today is my good friend's birthday.  I met Melissa when we first moved to CA in 2000.  We were instant friends.  Even though she moved to Florida in 2007, we still keep in touch.  She's such a great person, and she's very crafty!  I originally signed up as a demo under her in 2004.  After moving to Florida and dealing with life there, she let go of her demoship but she REJOINED this past summer!  So now I even have more to look forward to at Convention 2011!!!!   Instead of tears of sadness that were shared at Convention 2007...there will be very happy cheers shared!  Can't wait to see you in July! :) Hope you have a fabulous birthday, Melissa...you deserve it!  Order your supplies here.

Cupcake Birthday

I needed to make a few birthday cards so I decided to participate in the Stamping 411's Saturday Sketch.  I really like how this card turned out and will be perfect for the teenager that it's going to.  I've been on a kick lately to use the smooch accents lately...can you see the sparkle on the sprinkles and the flame?  Just the right touch!  This color combo came from the Color Coach!  I also crimped the cupcake wrapper to add a bit more dimension.  I find myself using the buttons more now that they came in so many colors...I just wish they came in ALL of our colors.  The Crochet Trim was a bit too light so I sponged it up with River Rock ink to make it match better :)  Have a great day!  Check out the Stamping 411's sketch today!  Order your supplies here.

Congratulations

One of my cousins will be leaving soon to serve a mission for our church in Portugal.  This is his congratulations card that's off in the mail to him.  He is one of my closer cousins...I feel like he's my little brother.  After I had graduated from the JC I had attended, I lived with their family for a few months until I could get into the apartment complex I wanted.  I spent a lot of time with him and his sister (she is currently serving a mission also...she's in Romania.)  It makes me very happy that he's chosen to dedicate the next two years to serve the Lord.  May God bless you, Boone!  Love you :)  Order your supplies here.

Baby

Over the weekend, I attended a baby shower.  The gender of the baby is unknown so it was a little bit different for me to make a gender neutral card...but also very fun :)  We didn't know for sure whether J.R. was a boy or a girl before we had him so it was fun to reminisce those memories.  I used the same technique I used on the previous top note card with the DSP strips with the adhesive sheet.  This time I just got DSP that measured 2" x 2 1/2" and layed them on a piece of CS that measured 4" x 5" with an adhesive sheet overtop.  After running the DSP cardstock sheet through the Big Shot, I trimmed the edge of the Top Note and layered it on a Whisper White Top Note to make the lettering pop.  Order your supplies here.
Cardstock:  Certainly Celery, Whisper White, Subtles DSP Pack (Pretty in Pink, Marina Mist, Certainly Celery), Brights DSP Pack (Daffodil Delight)
Ink:  None
Stamps:  None (Although, Sierra created matching wrapping paper that I forgot to take a picture of using the Baby Bundle stamp set and the colors from the DSP)

Lovely Owls

Last swap card I received this month.  I love how you can create just about any effect with these punch owls.  I love the DSP to dress them up!  So cute :)  You can never use enough punches.  This demo used the Heart-to Heart punch and the Two-Step Owl punch to create this lovely card.  Order your supplies here.

Pink Thank You

This is also a swap card from our demo meeting.  I love the pink shades this demo used on her card.  So clean and crisp!  The centers of the flowers are raised.  I would assume she added crystal effects with glitter.  Perfect addition to this card!  I love the "out of the box" idea for the center flowers...they are a square stamp (For All You Do stamp set) and to punch them out w/ a circle is PERFECT!!!

Warm My Heart

This is my swap from our demo meeting this week.  I go tthe idea from our demo magazine.  It was showcasing the technique of faux silk.  I planned to use the technique for my card but then I couldn't find my tissue paper so I opted to just use vellum over top of the stamped image to soften it.  If you look SUPER close you can see there are two eyelet border punched edges.  I really like this cute card layout.

Love

When I started stamping again, I knew I wanted to start working on Valentine's Day cards but realized I haven't ordered any Valentine DSP yet.  I happened to look in the Play Date DSP package and found this CUTE heart paper!  Perfect!!!!  This greeting is first stamped in Pretty in Pink ink and then stamped in the Real Red ink.  I smoothed the line in between the two inks with a sponge.  I love the effect of the two-toned stamping :)  Order your supplies here.

Hair Bow Holder

While on vacation, my SIL showed me this cute Hair Bow Holder she had made for my niece. I couldn't wait to get home and make one. All you need is....
An Art Canvas...
Ribbon...
And a staple gun (my hubby is very happy to have acquried a new tool :)  Then just staple the ribbon strips to the canvas board...be sure to stretch the ribbons tight.  I chose to do mine in rainbow color.
Syd and I had fun attaching all of their hair bows to it.  Here's how it looks on the girls' wall.  It's a nice addition of color to their bedroom :)
